Jess is a therapist who is deeply committed to supporting and empowering historically underrepresented communities through compassionate and culturally responsive mental health care. As a second-generation Korean American who grew up in an immigrant family, Jess understands how cultural identity, family expectations, and systemic barriers can shape the way people see themselves and interact with the world. She approaches therapy as a collaborative and individualized experience and honors each client’s unique story by creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where they can connect with their true selves.

Jess empathizes with the specific challenges and hardships that second-generation Asian Americans experience with their intersectional identities. She specializes in working with individuals affected by religious trauma, racial trauma, and complex family dynamics. She also has a special heart for people experiencing caregiver stress/burden and grief and loss.

Therapy sessions with Jess are grounded in curiosity and empathy, encouraging clients to explore themselves and their stories at a pace that feels supportive, healing, and empowering. Jess mainly draws from Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), narrative therapy, restorative justice, mindfulness, and other trauma-informed approaches. However, she also views therapy as a collaborative process and works alongside clients to develop a personalized approach that cultivates safety and trust and encourages open-minded exploration.

Jess earned her MSW from Loyola University Chicago. Her experiences as a social worker serving historically underrepresented communities grew her interest in supporting AANHPI communities and increasing access to culturally responsive mental health resources. She is dedicated to uplifting AANHPI voices, honoring their lived experiences, and affirming that their stories matter. She finds deep joy in witnessing moments where people find liberation, cultivate love, and feel empowered to live as their most authentic selves.
