As a queer, Asian-American, Josh has navigated the complexities of growing up in a religious immigrant home, understanding firsthand the challenges of reconciling clashing cultures and diverging identities. Josh brings a deeply empathetic and unique perspective to his therapeutic practice. Josh has experience in addressing developmental trauma, complex relationship dynamics, family of origin concerns, intersectional identity exploration, depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, career development, chronic illness, and many more of life’s challenges.
His clinical approach is trauma-informed, client-centered, and affirmative by fostering a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore their unique journeys. Josh tailors his approach to meet each client’s specific needs and goals. Josh draws from a diverse range of therapy approaches, including Psychodynamic, DBT, ACT, CBT, Somatic, IFS, LGBTQ-Affirmative, Solution-Focused, Trauma-Focused, and Culturally-Sensitive modalities.
Before entering the mental health profession, Josh built a successful career in the tech industry in Silicon Valley, supporting various teams at Alphabet. However, the pandemic served as a turning point, leading him to follow his true passion for mental health. He made a conscious decision to shift careers, obtaining a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago.
In the therapeutic space, Josh believes in helping clients become more aware of their truths, exploring how their values and identities shape their realities and relationships. Emphasizing a tailored approach, he strives to create a secure and restorative space where clients can find resolution, healing, acceptance, and the courage to embrace positive change.
No matter your background or intersectional identities, Josh is committed to providing you with new perspectives, effective tools, and unwavering support to embark on your personal growth journey. By working collaboratively with his clients, he aims to empower them to lead fulfilling lives that are aligned with their values and aspirations.
